As delays persist on new orders, the first Australian LandCruiser 300 customers are now due to pick up their cars this month.
The first customer deliveries of the much-anticipated 2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series have begun in Australia, as production in Japan ramps back up.
Priced from $89,990 before on-road costs for the entry-level GX variant (click here for full price and spec details) the all-new off-roader replaces
Toyota’s outgoing LandCruiser 200 Series.A new 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 diesel engine replaces the outgoing 4.5-litre V8, and this sends
227kW/700Nm to all four wheels via a 10-speed torque-converter automatic transmission as standard.“We would like to thank our customers for their understanding. It has been a challenging few months, with COVID-19 causing production stoppages in Japan and elsewhere across the region,”
Toyota Australia’s Sean Hanley said in an official statement.“We are pleased to announce that with Toyota’s production in Japan restored to normal levels in December, LandCruisers are now starting to land in Australia ready to be delivered to their new owners.
“Our dealers have the latest information on customers’ individual orders and expected delivery timing, and we thank our customers again for their patience.”
Due largely to long projected wait times and the decision to drop the 4.5-litre V8 engine from the line up, used LandCruiser 200 prices skyrocketed in late 2020 and throughout 2021.
Some examples reportedly found buyers paying in excess of $150,000 – almost double the original retail price.
