Local pricing and specifications for the all-new 2018 Peugeot 5008 range have been released on the company’s Australian website, ahead of an official launch in February next year.
Australians will be offered a choice of three trim levels; Allure, GT Line and GT, each with a high level of standard equipment for the class while also featuring seven seats as standard.
Kicking off the range will be the Allure, which starts at $42,990 before on-road costs. Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, the Peugeot iCockpit 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control with stop&go function, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition with intelligent speed adaption, and wireless phone charging.
There’s also DAB digital radio, keyless entry and start, park assist for parallel and 90-degree parking spaces, three individual sliding seats in the second row, two third-row seats, and rear window sun blinds.
Under the bonnet is a 121kW/340Nm 1.6-litre turbo petrol, sending drive to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.
Next up is the GT Line, asking for $46,990 plus ORCs. Compared to the Allure, the GT Line gets a hands-free electric tailgate, full LED headlights, high beam assist, active blind spot detection, active lane keep assist, advanced driver attention alert, a contrasting ‘Diamond Black’ roof, black door mirror covers, along with a sports front bumper and grille.
The GT Line gets the same 1.6-litre turbo as the Allure.
Finally, sitting atop the range is the GT, which starts at $52,990 before ORCs. Additional specification includes a peppier 2.0-litre turbo-diesel with 133kW of power and 400Nm of torque, which again is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic.
Other equipment additions include 19-inch alloy wheels, Alcantara door and dashboard inserts, an electrically-adjustable driver’s seat with two-position memory, heated front pews, massaging function for the driver, chrome mirror shells, and beefier wheel arch extensions.
Currently, those who pre-order the new 5008 get an ‘SUV Adventure Pack’ thrown in, which includes roof bars, a wind deflector set, rubber floor mats, a rubber boot mat, boot net, and a sport-specific roof bar attachment – you can choose a bike carrier, ski carrier and so on.
Measuring 4641mm long, 1844mm wide and 1646m tall with a 2840mm wheelbase, the Peugeot 5008 is around the same size as a Skoda Kodiaq, putting it on the smaller side of the large SUV segment.
However, luggage capacity is rated at 952L with the third row folded expanding to a maximum 2042L with the second row folded – competitive with the Kia Sorento (1077L/2066L), which is 140mm longer and 45mm wider.
