When I was about seven years old, I traced a drawing of the Transformers and mailed it into a TV show called The Cartoon Company (which, funnily enough, ran on the Nine Network, my current employer). The hosts of the show held it up to the cameras, declared it a cracking good effort, and mailed me a box of Posca paint markers as a prize – and, terrible child that I was, I promptly set about painting the town red. And green. Blue, yellow, purple…
