2017 Kia Carnival recalled for brake fix

Kia has issued a recall for 628 examples of the 2017 Carnival people-mover over concerns the brake booster’s vacuum hose could collapse.

The Korean manufacturer says a manufacturing fault could cause the vacuum hose in the brake booster to become weak over time.

If the vacuum collapses, it could cause the brake pedal to “become hard” when applying the brakes repeatedly. As a result, Kia says increased pedal input may be required.

Should the condition occur, it may pose a hazard to the vehicle’s occupants and other road users.

A VIN list for the affected Carnivals can be viewed here.

Owners of the recalled vehicles will be contacted by Kia Australia via mail, and are advised to contact their local dealer to arrange the inspection and repair of their brake vacuum, free of charge.
