HSV is set to take the wraps off its modified HSV Colorado on Friday December 8 according to a Facebook post by the Clayton based company.
As exclusively revealed by CarAdvice in July this year, the HSV-fettled Colorado will feature styling changes only, with the engine to remain unchanged. A recent trademark registration by Walkinshaw Performance also appears to be the likely contender for the car’s name. A picture of a HSV Colorado was sent in to us by a CarAdvice reader.
‘Wildfire’ was registered by Walkinshaw Performance on October 20 and applies to all the classes required for the naming and sale of a new vehicle (similar to the recent Camaro registration by Holden). Wildfire was registered under classes 12, 16, 25, 35 and 37. These relate to:
Class 12: Land motor vehicles; Motor vehicles; Passenger motor vehicles
Class 16: Advertising posters; Magazines (periodicals) incorporating posters; Advertising display stands of cardboard for desk-top or counter top use; Advertising material being printed matter; Printed matter for advertising purposes
Class 25: Jackets (clothing); Casual shirts; Polo shirts; Shirts; Headgear for wear; Jumpers (pullovers); Jumpers (sweaters); Polo neck jumpers; Sports jumpers
Class 35: Advertising; Promotion (advertising) of business; Public relations
Class 37: Maintenance and repair of motor vehicles; Repair of motor vehicles
Design changes include a new front end, with LED daytime running lights built into the front bumper bar, while the rear tray door will get Colorado insignia along its back side.
The tray cover will also be unique to the HSV Colorado Wildfire with channels on either side of a raised hump.
While engine output is unlikely to change, we understand that HSV has worked closely with Continental to develop a new tyre for the vehicle and an off-road version is also expected to be launched in the future, which will use components from the US-specification Colorado ZR2.
CarAdvice will have the full details on HSV’s new product on Friday December 8.
What do you think of the HSV Colorado ‘Wildfire’? Is this the type of HSV ute you were expecting?
