The upgraded 2018 Jeep Cherokee has been revealed for the US market, bringing new active safety technologies and increased equipment levels across the range.
For the new model-year, the American medium SUV is now available with technologies like blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert on higher grades.
New to the line-up is the entry-level Latitude, which comes as standard with 17-inch alloys, HID headlights, fog-lights, rear-view camera, along with body-coloured mirrors and door handles.
There’s also a new Latitude Plus grade, which adds highlights like the 8.4-inch Uconnect colour touchscreen infotainment system, keyless entry and start, leather seat inserts, leather multifunction steering wheel, eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with four-way lumbar support, ambient lighting, 115V AC outlet in the second row, and different 17-inch alloy wheels over the base model.
Higher up in the range, the off-road focused Trailhawk and the comfort-oriented Limited trims get blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and ‘ParkSense’ rear backup warning.
The Trailhawk in the US also gains dual-zone climate control, while the Limited adds a power tailgate.
The American range continues with just two powertrain options: a 130kW/229Nm 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol and a 200kW/315Nm 3.2-litre naturally-aspirated V6 – the latter now standard with idle stop/start technology.
All versions come equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission and the choice of front- and all-wheel drive.
