Photography: McLaren x Leica – Speed and Light

An artistic collaboration between the storied photography brand and the English supercar manufacturer.

McLaren and Leica Cameras have collaborated through two of its photographic ambassadors to create Speed and Light, an exhibition that captures the more artistic side of the McLaren GT.

Alex ‘Lady’ Drewniak and Kristian Dowling co-feature in the exhibition which is on display at both the Melbourne and Sydney Leica stores.

Kristian Dowling spoke about the inspiration for his images: “Imagine a scene in a film – two lovers out for a night in town, pulling up to an iconic restaurant in a stunning black McLaren. The red city lights glistening off the car’s polished black finish, accentuating the curves and lines of its unmistakable shape”

Now, both artists have a deep passion for their craft and have an intelligent philosophy behind each and every image. But If you are a fan of photography, cars, or (like me) both, you don’t have to understand art to appreciate it. It’s a fantastic gallery to look through no matter your knowledge of the world of the arts.

Both exhibitions can be found at:

Leica Gallery Melbourne
Address: Level 1, St Collins Lane, 260 Collins Street, Melbourne VIC 3000
Duration: Exhibiting until 31 July 2022

Leica Gallery Sydney
Address: Shops 40 – 44, Level 2, QVB, 455 George Street, Sydney NSW 2000
Duration: Exhibiting until 9 August 2022

If the McLaren GT priced at $403,500 is a little bit out of your budget, you can still peruse the Leica store and get something more within your price range, such as the Leica SL2 and a lens (as used by the Leica ambassadors) for $14,390. Oh wait.
