2014-2015 Mercedes-Benz C200 recalled due to electrical fire risk

An electrical alternator fault could lead to a fire, according to the manufacturer.

Mercedes-Benz Australia has recalled 3728 examples of its 2014-2015 Mercedes-Benz C200 sedan, citing a potential electrical fault and fire risk.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “The vehicle alternator may fail under specific operating and ambient conditions. If the vehicle alternator overheats it may cause a vehicle fire.

“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death of vehicle occupants and/or bystanders, as well as property damage.

“Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Mercedes-Benz and are asked to make arrangements with their nearest authorised Mercedes-Benz dealership to have the work carried out as soon as possible.”
