Trackside hotel announced for South Australia’s The Bend Motorsport Park

Hotel and resort giant Rydges has announced it will open a new four-star trackside hotel at The Bend Motorsport Park, a new $110 million circuit under construction on the site of Mitsubishi’s old test track in South Australia.

The Rydges Pit Lane Hotel won’t be the company’s first toe in the motor oil, with Rydges Bathurst already boasting “uninterrupted views” of Mount Panorama’s Conrod Straight.

At The Bend, the new Rydges hotel will offer 100 rooms in varying sizes and fitouts, forming a major part of an accommodation plan for the park that will host more than 10,000 people as needed.

Fortunately for those with only 91 RON in their veins, each room will benefit from major insulation work and double-glazed windows to block out the noise at nap time.

The vacation giant is getting in early at The Bend, which won’t begin racing on its 7.7-kilometre circuit and supporting sections until the middle of January. The hotel itself will open in April.

The FIA-licensed, international-standard venue is already confirmed to host a Revolve24 Endurance Cycling Challenge as its first major event, but revheads will be looking forward to August when round two of the 2018 Australian Supercars Championship will roll into town.

And, although not yet confirmed, newly approved Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme certification could also see a MotoGP round announced.

The Bend’s FIA Category 2 facilities will include circuit racing for cars and motorcycles, a purpose-built drift circuit, a CIK-FIA standard karting circuit, a rallycross circuit, an international Group 1 dragway, driver training facilities, a 4WD adventure park and a rally/off-road facility.

Finally, a reason to visit Adelaide… (I kid, I kid.)

Rydges Pit Lane Hotel will take bookings from December 13 in advance of its April opening.
