The upcoming 2018 Audi e-tron has been spied again during development testing in Europe, giving us a slightly closer look at the all-electric crossover.
Essentially the production version of the Audi e-tron quattro concept shown at the 2015 Frankfurt motor show, the new SUV will sit between the Q5 and Q7 in terms of size, though it’s been reported that the new model will go without the ‘Q6‘ branding initially expected.
According to reports overseas, Audi has said the Q6 and e-tron quattro are two different vehicles entirely.
Compared to the prototype spied in July, this vehicle features different alloy wheels, and wears white tape at the corners rather than black.
The shrouds of swirly black-and-white camouflage remains, though the darker environment allows us to see the LED tail-light signature, which looks like a mix of several different Audi models.
Power is said to come from an all-electric powertrain featuring a motor at each wheel, making for outputs of 320kW and 800Nm – along with a 370kW ‘launch mode’ – with 0-100km/h claimed to be dispatched in just 4.6 seconds.
In terms of driving range, Audi claimed the concept was capable of running for over 500 kilometres on a single charge, so expect the production version to target the same.
We’re expecting the Audi e-tron SUV to be revealed sometime next year, perhaps at the Geneva motor show in March.
