Italy’s Alfa Romeo Giulietta has apparently inspired a British suit company to develop an “all-weather high-performance” suit. Yup, a suit.
Designed and manufactured by UK tailor Hawes & Curtis, the uniquely tailored digs – referred to, at this stage anyway, as a “concept suit” – is said to blend Italian wool with a water-resistant finish, providing its wearer with a claimed ‘all-weather’ suit.
The two companies say the suit’s ingenious inspiration comes from the Alfa Romeo Giulietta’s DNA driving mode selector and, more specifically, its all-weather mode – generally considered to be its least exciting setting next to its standard ‘Natural’ and more sporty ‘Dynamic’ modes.
Pitched as being as “perfect for the British climate” as a “heat-wave”, the suit also features a mesh lining to better regulate body temperature.
Tying the somewhat tentative Giulietta link together, the water-resistant suit is accompanied by a raft of matching accessories, including red contrast stitching, carbon-fibre buttons, a honeycomb grille-printed tie, and Alfa Romeo-branded elements such as a pocket square, cufflinks, a lapel pin, and a tie slide.
Ensuring the ladies don’t miss out, Hawes & Curtis have also designed a matching women’s shirt, with red highlights and red metallic buttons.
Priced from $29,900 (before on-road costs), the current 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulietta range consists of the Super manual, Super automatic, and flagship 177kW/340Nm Giulietta Veloce.
