The Skoda Vision E has been detailed, along with a new batch of sketches, ahead of its debut at the Shanghai motor show in April.

As we speculated earlier this week, the new Skoda Vision E concept has an electric drivetrain wrapped in a ‘coupe SUV’ body shell.

Under the skin, the Vision E has two electric motors providing all-wheel drive as necessary, generating a total of 225kW of power, and capable of propelling the concept car to a top speed of 180km/h.

With its lithium-ion batteries fully charged, Skoda says the Vision E has a driving range of up to 500km.

The Vision E is said to be 4645mm long, 1917mm wide, 1550mm tall, and rides on a 2850mm wheelbase.

Compared to the Kodiaq, the Vision E is 54mm longer and 35mm wider, has a roof that’s 126mm closer to the ground, and uses a 59mm longer wheelbase.

Additionally, the Vision E is said to feature the hardware and software required for level three autonomous driving, allowing the car to steer, brake and accelerate for itself on motorways, in traffic jams, swerve as necessary, and automatically change lanes and overtake.

The Vision E can also independently search for parking spots, and enter and leave them without human intervention.

Skoda has also announced its intentions in the electric vehicle space. It all begins in 2019 with the a plug-in hybrid variant of the Skoda Superb, and will be followed up by the brand’s first pure electric vehicle in 2020. By 2025, Skoda says that it will have five pure EVs on the market.

It’s not clear if the Vision E previews the Czech brand’s first production EV, the Kodiaq Coupe or both.
