A driving event to raise money and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease is due to commence its four-day trip through regional Victoria later this week.
The annual ‘Daniher Drive‘ – an annual fundraising event named after Neale Daniher, a former AFL Essendon player who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in 2013 – is due to start on 12 October 2023.
The driving event typically attracts about 300 participants, grouped in teams using a range of regular or classic vehicles but is not restricted by the variant or rarity – who travel through regional Victorian towns Swan Hill, Shepparton and Creswick over four days – to fundraise and bring awareness to Motor Neurone Disease.
The charity – known as ‘Fight MND‘ says it has raised more than $3 million from participants for Motor Neurone Disease research and care – in addition to the Victorian government reportedly donating a combined $6 million to the Big Freeze and Fight NMD since its inception in 2014.
Each participating four-person team is required to fundraise $5000 with the Fight NMD team and pay a registration fee of $600 to be considered eligible for the event.
Any members above the eligible four-person team will be required to fundraise $1500 for each extra member.
