The fault could cause the water pump to leak coolant onto electrical components and start a fire, according to the recall notice.
Bentley has recalled 194 examples of its Continental GT coupe and convertible due to a fault with the water pump that could cause a fire.
The affected vehicles are stamped (and were sold between 2018 and 2019).
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “Due to a design defect, the water pump can create a vacuum within the electrical area of the pump. This could cause liquid from the coolant system to permeate the housing of the water pump and damage the electrical circuitry which could cause a vehicle fire.”
“Note: In the event that the Engine Management Light illuminates, or smoke is detected, owners should stop the vehicle where it is safe to do so, turn off the ignition, evacuate the vehicle and contact your nearest retailer immediately.”
