Porsche Classic is selling its prized 911 Classic Club Coupe – a modernised tribute to the late-1990s ‘996’ generation of its iconic sports car – to the highest bidder.
The Porsche 911 Classic Club Coupe – a one-of-one restoration project based on a ‘996’ generation Porsche 911 coupe from 1999 – is set to cross the auction block this June.
Created by Porsche Club America in the US and Porsche Classic in Germany, the one-off special takes inspiration from the Porsche 911 Sport Classic special edition of 2010, with its grey paint scheme and racing stripes.
There is no price estimate listed for the car – which is due to be auctioned by Broad Arrow Auctions at an event celebrating 75 years of Porsche, also set to include 75 iconic Porsche vehicles.
Dubbed the Classic Club Coupe, this ‘restomod’ built last year began life as a 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera, which was sent to Porsche Classic in Germany to undergo a restoration and modernisation.
The Classic Club Coupe gains the engine from the 911 GT3 track special of the day, a 3.6-litre flat-six-cylinder which routes its 294kW/385Nm outputs through a six-speed manual transmission.
It has also received appropriate upgrades to its brakes and suspension.
Completing the restoration are visual upgrades including 18-inch forged “Fuchs” wheels, 911 GT3-derived bumpers and side skirts, a handcrafted ducktail spoiler, double-bubble roof, and Sport Grey metallic paint with Sport Grey Light racing stripes.
The interior features a perforated Alcantara headliner, blue contrast stitching, Pepita-patterned upholstery, and a modern-era Porsche Communication Management infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Since it was restored, the vehicle has completed a tour of Porsche events throughout North America. It is now set to go under the hammer at the Porsche Experience Centre in Atlanta, Georgia between 8 and 10 June 2023.
