  • Unique exterior graphics and colours
  • Limited to 1976 examples worldwide, only 40 coming to Australia
  • Priced from $67,500 plus on-road costs

Renault has announced pricing and specifications for the 2023 Renault Megane RS Ultime – the hot hatch which is likely to be the French car-maker’s final petrol-powered high-performance car.

Revealed last month, the Megane RS Ultime represents the end of an era as the French car-maker’s last performance model to wear an ‘RS’ badge, putting a full stop on Renault’s petrol performance cars before the company goes electric-only in Europe by the end of the decade.

With 40 of the 1976 worldwide examples coming to Australia, the Megane RS Ultime is priced from $67,500 plus on-road costs when ordered with a six-speed manual transmission – $4500 more than the standard RS Trophy model.

Buyers who opt for the six-speed dual-clutch automatic incur a $3000 premium, increasing the price to $70,500 plus on-road costs.

In addition to the standard equipment fitted to the Renault Megane RS Trophy, the RS Ultime gains matte black decals on the roof, bonnet, rear bumper, doors and wheel arches, as well as ‘1976’ branding on the right side of the car – referencing the founding year of Renault Sport.

Additional exterior changes include black 19-inch ‘Fuji Light’ alloy wheels – wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza S007 tyres – plus black badges, door handles, window surrounds, wheel-arch accents, front bumper trim and rear diffuser.

Four exterior colours are available internationally – Star Black, Pearl White, Sirius Yellow, and Tonic Orange.

Inside, the Renault Megane RS Ultime is equipped with Recaro sports bucket seats (with black Alcantara upholstery and red ‘RS’ embroidery), unique numbered door sills, and a numbered build plate signed by Laurent Hurgon – Renault Sport’s development driver.

The Renault Megane RS Ultime’s turbocharged 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine is carried across from the RS Trophy, developing an unchanged 221kW and 400Nm in manual guise, with the automatic gaining an extra 20Nm.

Renault claims its front-wheel-drive hot hatch can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 5.7 seconds, aided by a Torsen mechanical limited-slip differential.

All new Renault cars in Australia are sold with a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, as well as five years of complimentary roadside assistance and five capped price services – which amount to $2645 across the 12-month/12,000km intervals.

The 2023 Renault Megane RS Ultime has arrived in Australian showrooms with stock limited to 40 examples nationwide.
