Tesla Australia has trimmed prices six months after its most recent round of increases – and customers who have already placed an order are in line for the savings.
US electric-car specialist Tesla has trimmed the prices of the Model 3 sedan and Model Y SUV in Australia six months after their latest round of increases – and customers who are already in the queue are in line for the savings.
Prices for Tesla cars in Australia have been reduced by between $1600 and $3907 depending on the model, however the delivery fee has increased $25 to $1400 and the ordering fee has increased $50 to $400.
Tesla still does not include Luxury Car Tax on the dearer models that it applies to, even though it is widespread industry practice to include LCT in the RRP.
A list of the price changes was published on social media earlier today (pictured below).
In addition, Drive has updated its data tables that show price movements on the Tesla Model 3 sedan and Tesla Model Y SUV since their introduction in Australia, though we have included Luxury Car Tax on applicable vehicles.s now
According to Tesla customers on social media, it appears buyers who have already placed an order at higher prices will be given the new, lower price – rather than being forced to cancel their order and go to the back of the queue to secure the discount.
As reported yesterday, new-car sales figures for 2022 published by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries show Tesla continued to dominate the electric vehicle market in Australia last year, accounting for three out of every five vehicles sold in the category.
And the Tesla Model 3 ended the Toyota Camry’s 28-year winning streak as Australia’s top-selling mid-size sedan.
