Million-dollar Lamborghini Aventador heads to auction without reserve

Bidding for this one-of-800 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster has already surpassed its 2020 price of $1.04 million, with the auction set to run for six more days.

The online auction of a rare Lamborghini Aventador convertible supercar – listed without a reserve price – has attracted bids of more than $1.3 million, with six days remaining before the hammer falls.

Listed by Lloyds Auctioneers and Valuers, this Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster is one of 800 examples built worldwide, powered by a 6.5-litre V12 which produces up to 566kW and 720Nm.

When the Aventador SVJ Roadster arrived in 2020, it became the most expensive Lamborghini model sold in Australia to date, with prices starting from $1,042,286 plus on-road costs.

Lamborghini claimed the convertible supercar’s all-wheel-drive system allowed it to accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 2.9 seconds, and reach a top speed of “more than 350km/h”.

According to the listing, this Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster’s odometer shows it has been driven for 920km since it was delivered to its current owner, who is said to have purchased the supercar when it was new.

The Lamborghini is one of more than 50 cars to be featured in Lloyd’s ‘Unreil’ auction collection, which includes a number of road-going vehicles and Australian racing cars.

The auction includes seven Holdens and four Fords which have either competed in the Bathurst 1000, or the predecessor to today’s V8 Supercars series.

Bidding for all 56 lots in the collection is due to end on Sunday 29 January at 2pm AEDT. At the time of publication, the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster has received a highest bid of $1.37 million – excluding the 7.5 per cent auction fee.
