2020-2022 Kia Sorento family SUV recalled: 8500 examples affected

The Kia Sorento recall covers a fault that could cause the vehicle to lose drive and increase the risk of an accident.

Kia Australia has recalled 8572 examples of its current-generation 2020-2022 Kia Sorento, citing a potential fault with the transmission oil pump.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “Due to variations in production, a crack may develop in the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) of the transmission electric oil pump (EOP) which may lead to failure of the EOP.

“If the EOP (electric oil pump) fails, hydraulic pressure will be lost and the vehicle may lose drive thereby increasing the risk of an accident resulting in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”
