A ship reportedly carrying more than 4000 Tesla electric cars has docked in Australia. It is the largest single shipment to date, and one of 12 arrivals over the past three months alone.
What is claimed to be the largest shipment of Tesla electric cars has docked in Australia – one of 12 arrivals over the past three months alone, a record for the electric-car specialist.
Reputable Tesla shipping tracker VedaPrime reports a ship packed with “well over” 4000 of the manufacturer’s electric cars have arrived in Australia – a new record for a single shipment.
This shipment alone is equivalent to two-thirds of Tesla’s best sales month on record in Australia – September 2022, when 5969 vehicles were delivered – and exceeds Tesla’s annual sales results in 2019 or 2020.
The latest arrival represents one of 12 shipments of Tesla vehicles that has arrived since the start of October 2022 – representing another three-month (or quarter-year) record.
It is now confirmed MSC Immacolata is the largest #Tesla shipment ever to come to Australia with well over 4000

The prior record was set in the previous quarter of the year (July to September) when eight shipments of Tesla vehicles arrived, including five in the span of two weeks.
It is unknown when Teslas in the latest shipments will be delivered – or how many cars were on the other 11 ships which have arrived since October 10.
If history is a guide, the record arrivals would be expected to reach customers over the December, January and February.
Despite the record arrivals, VedaPrime warns there are still delays on Tesla vehicles – with another ship originally planned to be the 13th for the quarter (October to December) delayed to early next year.
Tesla Australia has reported 17,328 vehicles as sold since the start of this year – already exceeding the 12,000 or so it claims it delivered to customers in 2021.
After delivering about 4500 cars in the first three months of this year, sales slowed to a trickle as lockdowns in China slammed the brakes on Tesla’s factory in Shanghai.
Deliveries resumed in significant numbers in August 2022, with 3397 vehicles reported as sold, before breaking a monthly sales record in October 2022, with 5969 vehicles reported as sold.
Tesla broke its monthly sales record in China in November, with 100,291 cars reported as sold – however industry analysts say demand is slowing overseas, despite introducing discounts to boost sales.
