The electric Ram pick-up is due to be revealed next month, but that hasn’t stopped the US company from rolling out another teaser before it pulls the covers off.
The Ram 1500 ‘Revolution’ electric pick-up has been teased in a short video posted online, less than a month ahead of its debut in Las Vegas.
The US pick-up specialist has previously published teaser images of Ram’s electric pick-up, but these were limited to computer-generated images in dimly-lit environments, showing off little more than the design of the headlights and tail-lights.
In a one-minute video uploaded to its YouTube channel, the Ram design team is depicted sculpting the body of its battery-powered 1500 – incorporating elements of its existing models while making some electric-exclusive tweaks.
Ram’s electric pick-up is fitted with a similar grille and headlights compared to the petrol-powered 1500, but the design elements appear to be far slimmer as there’s no need for engine cooling under the bonnet.
Another notable feature is the addition of digital cameras rather than physical mirrors on the front doors, feeding images back to screens inside the cabin.
The Ram 1500 Revolution is due to be unveiled as a concept in the early hours of 6 January 2023 at the Consumer Electronics Show tech exhibition in Las Vegas.
Ram has indicated the 1500 Revolution electric pick-up will be more powerful than its Ford F-150 Lightning and Chevrolet Silverado EV rivals, which develop up to 433kW and 495kW respectively.
The new model is the first of two electric Rams on the horizon, as a mid-size ute-sized offering is believed to be in the works – although this is tipped to be based on a car-derived platform shared with Jeep and Dodge.
