Citroën Australia has confirmed its 2023 Citroen C5 X large car will be priced from $57,670 plus on-road costs.
While the car will launch with petrol power only, Citroen’s local division has confirmed Australia will get the plug-in hybrid variant of the C5 X in the second half of next year – although pricing for that model is still to be confirmed.
The C5 X, which slots into the ‘large car’ market segment – also home to the Kia Stinger and Skoda Superb – blends sedan, station wagon and SUV styling, and will be available in Australia in a single well-specified Shine variant.
The petrol C5 X is powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo engine with outputs of 133kW and 250Nm. It’s mated to an eight-speed conventional automatic transmission, sending power to the front wheels.
The plug-in hybrid variant is powered by the same 1.6-litre petrol engine but with the addition of an 80kW electric motor and a 11.9kWh battery good for around 50km of pure electric driving range. It quotes a combined power output of 165kW.
Standard equipment for the C5 X includes 19-inch alloys, Paloma leather seat upholstery, LED headlights and tail-lights, a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as in-built satellite navigation and digital radio.
There’s also a large head-up display, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, a powered tailgate with gesture control, wireless phone charging and Citroën’s trademarked Hydraulic Cushion suspension setup.
A comprehensive suite of advanced safety systems is on offer, including autonomous emergency braking with low-light pedestrian and cyclist detection, active lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree overhead camera.
The petrol 2023 Citroen C5 X goes on sale in Australia today, with the plug-in hybrid variant due in the latter half of 2023.
