Ram 1500 TRX arrives in Australia
The world’s most powerful production petrol pick-up – the Ram 1500 TRX – has arrived in Australia through official importer Ram Trucks Australia, and the first batch is already sold out.
Factory-backed by Ram Trucks in the US, the TRX sits atop the Ram 1500 ‘DT’ range in Australia, priced from $199,950 plus on-road costs – $50,000 more than the Limited below it, and more then twice the price of a smaller Ford Ranger Raptor. Click here to read the full story.
Hundreds of new free electric car chargers coming to NSW
More than 230 electric vehicle (EV) charging points will be rolled out across New South Wales by 2025, for a total of more than 1000 within 10 years, as part of a new partnership announced today.
Electric car charging network Jolt will install charging points at roadside substations owned by electricity company Endeavour Energy, which services Sydney’s Greater West, Blue Mountains, Southern Highlands, the Illawarra, and NSW South Coast. Click here for the full story.
BYD Australia finalises deal with Eagers dealer network
Distributor of BYD electric cars in Australia, EVDirect.com, has finalised a deal to sell its vehicles through Eagers Automotive showrooms across Australia – but fixed prices and online ordering are slated to remain.
EVDirect.com had previously planned to sell BYD vehicles exclusively online, aided by a showroom in Sydney – however the new deal with the Eagers dealer group will deliver a “dedicated BYD sales experience and after-sales facilities in selected strategic markets across Australia.”

Hyundai’s second Ioniq electric family member revealed
The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric sedan has been revealed, ahead of full details due next month, and an Australian launch slated for early 2023.
Underpinned by the same Hyundai E-GMP dedicated electric platform as the Ioniq 5 medium SUV, the new Ioniq 6 targets sedans from the top-selling Tesla Model 3 to the Polestar 2 and upcoming Volkswagen ID.6/ID.7. Check out the full story here.

Europe to ban petrol and diesel cars from 2035, but with concessions
In terms of stories with the biggest impact on the future of the automobile, this is near the top of the list. The European Union has agreed to a new proposal that could mark the end of new petrol and diesel cars – with a few exceptions.
Officials from the European Union (EU) announced the proposal to introduce a 100 per cent reduction in tailpipe emissions from 2035 for all new cars and vans – encouraging manufacturers to adopt either battery-electric or hydrogen fuel-cell powertrain technologies.
