- 2023 Ford Ranger pricing and specifications
- Core range on sale now; Raptor due in August
- Four-cylinder or V6 diesel power; six model grades
- Priced from $35,930 before on-road costs
The regular 2023 Ford Ranger ute range has arrived in Australia, ahead of the flagship Raptor due next month.
Now in Ford dealerships across the country, the new Ford Ranger is the first new model in a decade, with more technology, a bold new look, and a range of four-cylinder and V6 engines.
As reported, prices have increased by up to $2240 in the standard line-up – or $6100 for the Raptor – though most models, including the top-selling twin-turbo 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel Wildtrak, are up by less than $1100.
Ford Australia says it is holding more than 20,000 orders for the new Ranger and Everest – including at least 4000 for the Raptor – with wait times on some variants stretching up to nine months.
Six model grades of the new Ford Ranger will be offered – XL, XLS, XLT, Sport, Wildtrak and Raptor – across single-cab, extra-cab (or ‘Super Cab’) and double-cab bodies, cab-chassis or pick-up styles, four engines, two transmissions, and rear- or four-wheel drive.
Prices start from $35,930 plus on-road costs for the entry-level XL Single Cab Chassis 4×2, and rise to $85,490 for the twin-turbo petrol V6 Raptor flagship.
Powering entry-level models is a 2.0-litre single-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine developing 125kW and 405Nm, with a six-speed automatic transmission (there’s no manual), and rear- or selectable (part-time) four-wheel drive.
Mid-grade models upgrade to a familiar twin-turbo version of the 2.0-litre diesel engine, with outputs of 154kW/500Nm (down 3kW over the old Ranger), a 10-speed automatic transmission, and standard part-time four-wheel drive.
Ford Ranger XLT, Sport and Wildtrak models can be optioned with a 3.0-litre single-turbo diesel V6 for an extra $3000, developing 184kW and 600Nm, with a 10-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive.
Sitting atop the range is the hero Ranger Raptor, powered by a new 292kW/583Nm 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine driving all four wheels through full-time four-wheel drive and an 10-speed automatic (full details here).

Standard on the entry-level, fleet-focused XL is a large 10.1-inch portrait touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8.0-inch digital instrument display, rear parking sensors (on the pick-up), and a full suite of advanced safety technologies.
That includes autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and on pick-up models, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert – plus nine airbags, including one designed to prevent front occupants’ heads clashing in a side-impact crash.
The entry-level XL accounts for 11 of the available 23 model variants, and offers the most choice: a single-turbo or twin-turbo 2.0-litre diesel engine, Single, Super or Double Cab, pick-up or cab-chassis, and two- or four-wheel drive.
XL-specific features include 16-inch steel wheels, all-black front grille and vinyl flooring – with the one-rung-up XLS adding niceties like 16-inch alloys, black side steps, carpet floors, a six-speaker sound system, front parking sensors, and more.
The volume-selling XLT introduces the new diesel V6 to the range, and adds features such as rear disc brakes, LED headlights, 17-inch alloys, dual-zone climate control, built-in satellite navigation, a leather steering wheel, proximity key entry/start, and upgraded lane-keep assist and adaptive cruise control systems.
The Sport gains black exterior accents, 18-inch wheels, a power driver’s seat and leather-accented trim, while the Wildtrak scores a larger 12-inch touchscreen, unique bumpers and ‘sail plane’ sports bar, all-terrain tyres, electric heated front seats, a roller tray shutter, and more.
Features exclusive to the Raptor go beyond its hardcore appearance, engine and chassis – these include a larger 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster. matrix LED headlights, paddle shifters, full LED tail-lights and a spray-in tray liner.
A range of option packages and extras are available, upgrading technology, towing, payload and other elements of various Ranger models.
Full lists of standard features and options are included at the bottom of this story.
