A lucky handful of customers in Australia will be driving their new Ranger utes very soon, while others will need to wait longer.
First deliveries of the hotly-anticipated 2023 Ford Ranger will commence in Australia this week – but Ford Australia warns other customers will face ‘extended waits’ for their orders to arrive.
Ford Australia has already recorded more than 17,000 orders for the new Ranger – equating to at least three months of sales, before anyone has had a test drive, or sat in one in a dealer – which includes over 4000 orders for the high-performance Raptor variant.
And as the global semiconductor shortage continues to limit the production capabilities of all vehicle manufacturers, Ford is struggling to keep up with demand for its new ute.

In an effort to keep customers up to date, Ford has added more information to its website (click here) on Ford Ranger wait times and supply levels.
“We know prospective buyers and intending customers want accurate information and transparency about wait times and when their vehicle will arrive,” said Ford Australia and New Zealand CEO Andrew Birkic in a press release.
“This dedicated webpage will keep them informed but we’d also encourage customers to stay in contact with their dealers about the status of their vehicle.”
The new-generation 2023 Ford Ranger – which will share its Australian-developed platform with the forthcoming Volkswagen Amarok – will pick up optional V6 power for the first time.
Along with a carry-over 154kW/500Nm 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine, a 184kW/600Nm 3.0-litre single-turbo diesel V6 will be available on XLT, Sport, and Wildtrak variants.
The high-performance Ranger Raptor has moved to petrol power, with a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 making 292kW/583Nm. Entry-level two-door models will use a 125kW/405Nm 2.0-litre single-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine.
