SAIC-GM-Wuling – a Chinese joint venture comprised of American car giant General Motors, Chinese conglomerate SAIC (owners of MG and LDV), and local car brand Wuling – have introduced a new two-seater electric vehicle in China, labelled the Wuling Hongguang Nano EV.
The first cars to roll off the production line will form part of a collaboration with Disney, with the limited-edition variant serving as a celebration of the well-known animated feature film Zootopia.
Named the ‘Nano EV Disney Zootopia’, it scores custom-themed decals, exclusive badges and a unique interior.
Powered by a 230 amp-hour lithium-ion phosphate battery, the Nano EV has a claimed range of 305km according to lenient NEDC testing protocols.
The electric motor produces 24kW and is mated to a single-speed synchronous transmission allowing the electric vehicle (EV) to reach a top speed of 100km/h.
The miniature, quirky-looking vehicle measures in at 2499mm long, 1524mm wide, 1615mm high and has a wheelbase of 1600mm. Those figures make the Nano EV approximately 1100mm shorter in overall length and 70mm narrower than a Kia Picanto, one of Australia’s smallest cars.
Currently available only in China, this special edition is limited to 5000 examples and carries a price tag equivalent to $AU12,650.
