Hyundai Elantra recalled due to airbag fault

Hyundai Australia has issued a recall of 28 examples of its Elantra with Model Years from 2008 to 2009 (MY08-MY09), due to a potentially dangerous airbag issue. The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says "if the airbag inflator ruptures during airbag deployment, metal fragments may propel towards the vehicle occupants at high speeds". It goes on to say the airbag may also under-inflate in an accident.
