Toyota recalls Prius and Corolla Hybrid models due to software fault

Toyota Australia has issued a recall of 847 examples of its Prius with Model Years from 2014 to 2015 (MY14-MY15), and 5118 examples of the Corolla Hybrid with Model Years from 2015 to 2018 (MY15-MY18). The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says the hybrid system in the two models may shut down entirely when it detects a fault or component failure, rather than entering into a 'fail-safe' that provides the driver with reduced power.
