A brief history of Mazda's Kingswood

The story of the Mazda Roadpacer AP begins, like so many do, with a good idea, executed badly. Mazda had built a solid reputation in its home country for building small cars, including some glorious coupes. But, what the still fledgling Japanese carmaker lacked in its arsenal was a large, family sedan to take it the fight to the likes of the Toyota Century, Nissan President, and Mitsubishi Debonair for the hearts and wallets of families and mid-level executives.
