A team of scientists from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and the Honda Research Institute have developed a new fluoride-ion battery. In a paper, snappily titled "Room-temperature cycling of metal fluoride electrodes: Liquid electrolytes for high-energy fluoride ion cells", just published in the journal Science, the team, led by Victoria Davis, claims to have created a new type of fluoride-ion battery that works at room temperature.
