Toyota Gazoo Racing will use the Tokyo Auto Salon to launch the GR Super Sport Concept.
The concept has been inspired by the World Endurance Championship efforts of Toyota Gazoo Racing, which suggests a hybrid powertrain and aggressive aerodynamics will both feature.
It’s designed, according to the company, to prove how “technological feedback acquired through motorsports activities is incorporated” into real-world products.
Mercedes-AMG has leant on its Formula One program to create the Project One, while Aston Martin has leveraged its partnership with Red Bull Racing for the Valkyrie. And let’s not forget, the Ford GT is essentially a Le Mans racer for the road, albeit from a lower category than Toyota competes in.
If those cars are anything to go by, the GR Super Sport could be a serious piece of kit.
Alongside the Super Sport, the Gazoo stand at Auto Salon will be home to the 86 GR and Vitz GRMN, the latter of which is a 150-unit limited edition car for the Japanese market.
