The new-generation 2019 Toyota Avalon has been teased this week, ahead of its global unveiling at the 2018 Detroit motor show in January.
Just a single image showing part of the large sedan’s front end has been released so far, highlighted by the new model’s LED daytime-running light signature. There also appears to be a very aggressive front intake nestled in a bold bumper, flanked by upright slits.
Little else is known about the new Avalon, but it’s likely to ride on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform already underpinning the new Camry, C-HR and Prius.
Powertrains should also be shared with the related Camry range, headlined by the 224kW 3.5-litre V6 and supplemented by a hybrid variant teaming a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor.
Reports from the US also speculate that the Avalon will be fitted with Toyota’s latest Safety Sense driver-assistance technologies, including autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning.
Stay tuned for our coverage of the 2018 Detroit motor show in January.
