Local pricing and specifications for the updated 2018 Peugeot 308 range have been revealed on the company’s local website.
The revised range gets a new look, upgraded levels of standard specification, and spells the end of the GT variants featured in the outgoing lineup.
As before, however, the range opens with the entry-level Active – which starts at $26,990 plus on-road costs.
Standard kit includes 16-inch alloy wheels, a 9.7-inch touchscreen navigation system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a leather steering wheel, rear-view camera with rear parking sensors, driver attention alert, bluetooth phone and audio streaming, USB input, and ‘three claw’ LED tail-lights.
Power comes from a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine developing 96kW of power and 230Nm of torque, mated as standard to a six-speed automatic transmission. Fuel consumption is rated at 5.0L/100km.
Next in the range is the Allure, starting at $31,990 plus ORCs. This variant gets the option of the 1.2-litre petrol or a 110kW/370Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel – the latter bringing the price up to $35,990 before ORCs.
Additional equipment includes 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and start, active blind spot monitoring, active lane-keep assist, full-LED headlights with high beam assist, speed limit recognition, an electric parking brake, front parking sensors, city park assist, electric folding door mirrors with welcome light, Alcantara trim with sports front seats, and a sports front bumper.
Sitting atop the core range is the 308 Touring Allure ($37,990 plus ORCs), which comes as standard with the 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine. Specification mirrors that of the Allure hatch, though silver roof rails are added.
Despite the addition of safety systems like active blind spot assist and active lane-keep assist, it appears Australian versions of the 308 miss out on autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and adaptive cruise control with stop/go function. CarAdvice has tried contacting the brand’s local distributor, Inchcape, though is yet to get a response.
Finally, the new 308 range is headlined by the GTi (above), which starts at $45,990 before ORCs.
Specification highlights in addition to the Allure grade includes 19-inch alloys, a Torsen limited-slip front differential, sports bucket front seats with massaging function, the Driver Sport Pack, along with red trim highlights throughout the cabin.
Under the bonnet of the GTi is a 1.6-litre turbo petrol which pumps out a meaty 200kW of power and 330Nm of torque, paired exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission.
Peugeot’s Australian website is currently advertising special drive-away pricing for the Active and Allure hatchbacks with the 96kW petrol engine, listed at $28,990 drive-away and $33,990 drive-away respectively.
