Local pricing for the upgraded 2018 Skoda Fabia range has been announced this week, with the revised hatch and wagon range starting at $16,890 and $18,040 before on-road costs.
The price of entry for both the hatch and wagon is up by $400, with the headlining change being the previous 1.2-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine swapped out for a new 1.0-litre turbocharged three-pot.
A duo of tunes will be offered like before, the entry-level now getting 70kW – fittingly dubbed 70TSI – and the higher-output version retaining the outgoing model’s 81kW power figure. However, torque for the latter raises from 175Nm to 200Nm.
The less-potent version is offered exclusively with a five-speed manual transmission, while the 81kW model is offered solely with a DSG automatic.
As before, equipment highlights include a rear-view camera, front assist (390-160km/h) with city-speed autonomous emergency braking (AEB) up to 30km/h), multi-collision brake assist and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
The new Skoda Fabia range will be hitting showrooms later this week.
