2017 Beetle Sunshine Tour breaks registrations record

Fans of one of the world’s most loveable cars, the Volkswagen Beetle, will be converging next week on the beach of the German Baltic Sea for the 2017 Beetle Sunshine Tour.

Now in its 13th year, the world’s largest Beetle meeting has 721 cars registered, achieving a new record.

This year’s theme is “Welcome to America”, celebrating the Beetle’s success in the country.

There will be plenty to see and do for Bug fans, including a 412kW Beetle GRC rally car (above) from the American GRC Rallycross championship, along with a converging rally and a ‘show and shine’ at the Brügmanngarten festival meadow in Travemünde.

Celebrity German Beetle owners will also be mingling amongst the crowd, including actors Karoline Schuch, Luna Schweiger, Devid Striesow, and entrepreneur, Sidney Hoffmann.

The most exceptional models will strut their stuff on the ‘Beetlewalk’, as the jury vote for the best car on show – the more creative, the better. Last year’s winner was a Smurf-inspired Bug.

Registrations for this year’s event have reached capacity, so perhaps lock in next year if you’re keen to catch the Bug, like countless millions around the world already have.
