BMW is growing its line of limited-edition anniversary models, unveiling the new 7 Series 40 Jahre today.
The new special will follow the M3 30 Jahre and M5 30 Jahre models to Australia, but, as with those two, numbers will be extremely limited. With just 200 scheduled to be produced, the Australian office isn’t expecting more than a handful.
And, although not confirmed, we can likely expect BMW’s local arm to save Aussie buyers from awkward attempts at pronouncing ‘Jahre’ by opting for the ‘7 Series 40 Years’ name. (Incidentally, ‘yah-ruh’ will just about get you over the line if you do want to try the original Deutsch.)
Setting the new style-focused special apart from its ‘regular’ siblings is the specific selection of silk-matte Frozen Silver or Petrol Mica exterior finishes from the BMW Individual catalogue – the latter inspired by the original 7 Series, as pictured here.
There’s also a BMW M Aerodynamics pack, high-gloss Shadow Line accents and 20-inch BMW Individual light alloy wheels. A badge signifying the special edition also appears on the B-pillar.
Inside, there’s BMW Individual Merino fine-grain leather, in combination Smoke White/Cohiba or Smoke White/Black, matched to Smoke White piping and an Alcantara Smoke White roof liner.
Comfort seats are standard, along with BMW Individual highlights that include piano black lacquer or high-grade Eucalyptus wood finishes in a Smoke Brown high gloss, depending on the trim colour. Smoke White cushions also feature.
The 7 Series 40 Jahre will be offered in Europe in regular or long-wheelbase forms, with six-cylinder, V8 and V12 engines on offer.
Australia
BMW’s local arm has confirmed the special will come to Australia, but with numbers and specifications still to be locked down.
The 7 Series 40 Jahre will make its global debut at September’s Frankfurt motor show, with production to begin in October.
