The new Renault Trafic SpaceClass has just been launched at the 70th Cannes International Film Festival, where the new van ariant will be used to ferry VIPs around.
The Trafic SpaceClass can accommodate up to nine passengers with sliding door access to the second and third row on both sides of the vehicle.
With the middle and last row of seats mounted on a rails, the SpaceClass’ main passenger area can be configured up to 50 different ways. The SpaceClass’ seats can be made to face each other in a lounge-like setup, or the seats can be positioned to face forward in a more traditional layout.
Available features include USB ports, 220V outlets, dark-tined rear windows, air conditioning, individual reading lights, and leather upholstery. There’s also an exclusive shade of grey paint, colour-coded bumpers, gloss black detailing, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
In addition to being a people hauler, the SpaceClass can also double as a mobile office space with an available central table, which can be moved around on rails or removed completely. It can be configured as a coffee-style table, a working desk or a multi-function armrest.
Depending on the trim level, the Trafic SpaceClass offers drivers a leather-covered steering wheel, 7.0-inch MediaNav infotainment and satellite navigation system, and rear-view camera.
The company is targeting the Trafic SpaceClass at high-end taxi drivers, chauffeurs, and companies running shuttles services to and from locations like railway stations, airports and hotels.
Renault is also hoping to lure a few private buyers for whom the latest generation Escape isn’t capacious or practical enough.
Australia
The Renault Trafic SpaceClass will go on sale in Europe from September 2017. It’s not known if the SpaceClass will be made available in Australia.
