The upcoming 2018 BMW M5 super sedan will produce over 600 horsepower (447kW) from its twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 when it makes its debut later this year, according to a keen Instagrammer.

Published on blog site Bimmer Post, the now deleted Instagram post details several features of the new Mercedes-AMG E63 S rival, including its 447kW+ power output, all-wheel drive, and a 0-100km/h claim of less than 3.6 seconds.

According to the post by Abu Dhabi Motors (@abudhabi_motors), select customers and dealers were invited to a private unveiling of the new M5 in South Korea.

Other details leaked from the event include a trio of modes for the all-wheel drive system to distribute torque between the front and rear axles, one being a full rear-wheel drive mode, which, could be similar to the new AMG E63 S’s ‘Drift Mode’.

Bimmer Post also claims the new ‘F90’ M5 will get a carbon-fibre roof, a modified eight-speed automatic transmission, side mirror spurs like the smaller M3 and M4, and a unique instrument cluster.

Marina Bay Blue exterior paint is said to be a new colour option for the M5, along with 20-inch five-spoke jet black alloy wheels.

Recent spy images of the new super sedan indicate the new M5 is just about production-ready, so a global reveal is likely for the second half of this year.

Numerous reports online speculate the M5 will make its debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September, so stay tuned for our coverage in the coming months.
