A new Lynk & Co sedan concept has surfaced online this week, complete with scissor-style doors and futuristic styling.

The images, taken by Fred Etoall for the Chinese manufacturer and published online by Adamsky Management, show a striking sedan which combines Lynk & Co’s bold corporate face and a sedan body – as opposed to the SUV aesthetic adopted by the 01 crossover revealed late last year.

However, any details other than the car’s design remain unknown other than the body style and digital driver’s display, though it’s possible it could preview what’s in store for the upcoming ’02’ sedan – which was spied during development testing this week.

Lynk & Co, launched under Chinese automaker Geely – which also owns Swedish manufacturer Volvo – will target global markets with its strikingly-designed models, which share the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform jointly developed by Geely and Volvo.

Its first model, the 01 SUV, shares many of its components with the upcoming Volvo XC40, and features a number of high-end infotainment and connectivity solutions, while also sporting a distinctive and unique design.

Engines are likely to include a range of turbocharged powerplants from Volvo, including 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre displacements. A plug-in hybrid version will follow.

It’s likely the 02 sedan – or whatever it will be called – will likely have a lot in common with the next-generation Volvo 40 Series as well, along with its 01 stablemate.

A likely debut for this new concept is the Shanghai motor show, which starts on April 21.
