Jeep has teased a new concept car that it will unveil at the Shanghai motor show later this month.
Images from a teaser invite were published by Autohome. The text for the front-on shot reads: “Shanghai Motor Show, April 19. See you there.” Accompanying the side-on image, the Chinese text says, “This is not an April Fools’ joke”.
Up front, the concept features Jeep’s signature seven-slat grille, as well as a slim set of headlights.
Along the sides, the vehicle looks to share a lot of similarities with the second-generation Compass, although the concept has a much larger rear side window, hinting, possibly, at a third row of seats.
Speculation is rife that the concept will be classified in China as a “new energy vehicle”, meaning that it will feature either a hybrid or a fully electric drivetrain.
Australia
Whatever production vehicle this concept points at, it’s unlikely we’ll ever see it in local showrooms.
Frances Yu, head of communications Fiat Chrysler Asia Pacific, has informed Motor1, “Jeep will present a new concept at the Shanghai auto show, but it will be only for China”.
