A first look at the new Infiniti QX80 Monograph concept has been handed down today, offering a first look at the next generation of the big Nissan Patrol-based SUV.

Shown for now from just one revealing angle, the QX80 Monograph delivers a more resolved look than the model currently offered in Australia, with themes that draw it closer to the brand’s latest styling.

Designed in Atsugi, Japan, for debut at next week’s New York motor show, the QX80 Monograph is described as “the ultimate expression of futuristic luxury SUV design”.

The company has offered no other details at this early stage, and it remains to be seen if this new QX80 should be taken as a preview of the next-generation Nissan Patrol. The two are likely to again share platforms and drivetrains, although Infiniti will likely look to set its luxury SUV’s styling even further apart from the Nissan themes.

The current QX80 has been on the global stage since 2010, so we can expect to see this concept progress quickly to production. An early to mid-2018 market debut could be on the cards.

Watch for the QX80 Monograph concept to make its official debut on April 11 at the New York motor show.
