The Audi R8 Audi Sport Edition has been revealed for the New York motor show this week, bringing unique exterior and interior trim elements in the colours of the German company’s performance division.

Limited to just 200 units, the R8 Audi Sport features unique exterior styling enhancements such as red side mirrors and side blades, titanium black front spoiler, grille and rear diffuser insert, along with gloss black trapezoidal tailpipe trims.

Filling the arches are 20-inch forged alloy wheels, wrapped in 245/30 tyres at the front and 305/30 rubber at the rear.

The silver, red and black theme continues inside, with illuminated aluminium door sill inlays with the Audi Sport logo – which also have the inscription “1/200” – in addition to the black and red nappa leather sports seats with embossed R8 emblems in the backrests (exclusive to the Audi Sport Edition), while contrasting dark silver stitching adorns the flat-bottom steering wheel, door trims and seats.

Other highlights in the cabin include the gloss carbon-fibre inlays surrounding the Virtual Cockpit driver’s display, air vents and on the centre console, while the steering wheel gets a red stripe in the 12 o’clock position

Available in both V10 and V10 Plus trims, the R8 Audi Sport Edition is offered with two tunes of the 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 engine – producing 397kW/540Nm in the V10 model, and 449kW/560Nm in V10 Plus trim.

Australia

Unfortunately for Australians wanting a limited-edition R8 Audi Sport, it seems the special supercar won’t be heading Down Under.

Shaun Cleary, product communications manager for Audi Australia, told CarAdvice: “At this stage, there are no plans to bring the Sport Edition to Australia”.
